Literacy for All Reading Program

Literacy for All Reading Program teaches adults to read and improve English language skills empowering them to access better jobs, help children with homework, and fully participate in society. We provide free one-on-one tutoring using trained volunteer tutors who meet students at convenient times and locations. Our program serves over two hundred adult learners annually many of whom have hidden illiteracy for years due to shame. We use customized curriculum addressing each learner goals whether obtaining GED, reading to grandchildren, or becoming citizen. We provide childcare during tutoring sessions removing barrier preventing parent participation. Our family literacy programs involve parents and children learning together. We celebrate every milestone recognizing courage required for adults to admit they need help and commit to learning. We believe literacy is fundamental right opening doors to opportunities.
